HINO Australia says four original-condition HINO trucks have each racked up over two million kilometres for Newspaper delivery business, Bourkes Transport Industries.
According to HINO, the two million kilometres traversed by the trucks is equivalent to traversing the Earth’s equator 50 times. The trucks travel an average 400,000km per year and are constantly on the road, stopping for only a few hours between driver shifts, and for servicing.
Bourkes Transport says one of its oldest trucks is a HINO FD Ranger 6 Turbo purchased in 2003, which is estimated to have travelled over 2.5 million kilometres and is still in service.
Irrespective of the high mileage, the company sees no need to move it on at the moment, with the decision to keep it working for another six to 12 months and then look at retiring it.
Bourkes fleet also includes four FD Ranger Pro 6 Long Air 260 horsepower models, three of which have reached the two million kilometre milestone. One of them has an odometer stuck on 1,999,999 and another won’t go over 2,300,000.
The third Ranger Pro is said to have just gone two million and the fourth is close behind, on 1.8 million.
HINO says Bourkes Transport recently purchased three new HINO FD 500s, a 1024, a GD 1227 and an FC 1018, which are part of its recent business expansion into Queensland, with a new depot at Tweed Heads.
